会津魂

会津若松市地産地消推進パンフレットに、須藤夫妻が掲載されました。会津短大グラフィックゼミの学生さん達が作ってくれたものです。先日、半日ほどかけて取材してくれました。



須藤がお話ししたことを、要点をうまくつかんでまとめてくれています。大変わかりやすい文章なので、ご紹介させて頂きます。



『生命を大切にする食べ物作り』

アイガモを使った有機農法でお米を作っている、すとう農産社長の須藤久孝さんにお話を伺いました。

―アイガモ栽培の特徴を教えてください。

アイガモが田んぼの雑草や虫を食べてくれることで、農薬を使わずに駆除が出来ますし、その糞は稲の肥料にもなるんです。ですが、雛鳥のお世話や、大きくなったアイガモは稲穂を食べてしまうので別の場所に移したりなど大変なこともあります。



―お米のこだわりを教えてください。

ほとんどの皆さんは、体調を崩した時に医者に行って薬をもらうと思います。でも、人間の体にはもともと治癒力が備わっていて、それを引き出すのが健康な食べ物なんです。農薬を使ってしまうと、食べた人の体の中に農薬が少なからず入ってしまいます。それでは治癒力を引き出すどころか、逆に体調を崩す要因になりかねません。そうではなく、無農薬で自然のままに作られた食べ物を健康な食べ物と呼んでいます。ウチではこのような健康な食べ物作りを通して生命を大切にする、生命産業として、皆さんに食べ物を提供しています。



―地産地消についてどうお考えですか？

住んでいる土地の食べ物が一番体には合うのでとてもいい事だと思います。身土不二と言いますが、土に住んでいる微生物や土の性質など、その土地ならではの特徴があります。長年その土地で暮らしていれば、当然その土地の土で作られた作物が一番体に合いますし、健康にもいいと思います。

須藤は以前、ＥＭ菌を使っていたこともあり、それはそれでよかったのですが、、ＥＭ菌はあたたかいところの菌なので、寒冷の会津に合う農法を試行錯誤してきた結果、現在は『米ぬか玄米酵素醗酵肥料』を使用しています。今年は堆肥の専門施設（小さいですが）を作ったので、さらにグレードアップした肥料を考えているようです。
