種もみ準備

３月１８日に種もみ温熱消毒をして、浸水。（写真を撮るのを忘れていました・・・）種もみは、網の袋に入れて、このように浸水します。今年は例年より１０日ほど遅れての浸水。大雪が消えなくて、作業が遅れてしまいました。周りの農家さんとぶうぶう言い合いながら、最後は「ま、しょがね。」で解散するのが会津流。





水が濁っているのは、種もみが呼吸している証拠です。もう少し濁ってきたら取り替えます。だいたい一日に一回が目安ですが、暖かい日は濁りが濃くなり、発芽臭がしてきます。何万何十万の一粒一粒がこの箱の中で生きているのか～と思うと、そんなにいっぱいの命を預かるなんて、怖い気もしてきます。でも、この種もみが芽を出して、穂を垂れて、風に吹かれたりして、皆さんにお届けするお米を生んでくれるんですね。農業ってすごいです。
